Ivan Ryder Cup 2010

THE 2010 PHOENIX CUP

A NOTE FROM THE CAPTAINS:
$100 cash for Tournament Entry is due to your captain before the first matches are played on Friday afternoon, 6/4. This is for prize money, to be split between the man with the most points on each team ($75 each), and the rest will be split among the 8 golfers on the winning team, $180 each.

– Both Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning, we are playing Fourball (2 golfers from each team will play two golfers from the other team. You play your own ball, and the low net score of the group wins the hole for your team. The hole is halved if nobody wins the hole).
– Foursomes will be played Saturday afternoon. Two golfers from one team play two golfers from the other team. This is alternate shot until the hole is played out. Whoever tees off on hole number 1 will tee off on all of the odd-numbered tees. His teammate will tee off on all of he even-numbered holes.
– Singles matches will be played Sunday morning. Each golfer will play his own ball against his competitor.

If there are any disputes, the captains will discuss it, and settle the dispute (golf only, not Poker!!!).

What to Bring

  • $100 Cash for Tournament Entry
  • Food and Drinks (Beer, chips, crackers, pretzels, etc). If everyone brings something I’m sure we can all share but these things will not be provided to those who don’t bring anything… rookies you better bring some extra!
  • $$$ for playing cards at night. We will likely have 2 tables this year, high rollers and low rollers since we have 16 guys.
  • Sunscreen and Water
  • A strong stomach, little need for sleep, and a good attitude, we expect no drama this year except for Mr. Flosi’s normal outbursts and pranks which are always welcome when respectful.

The Rules

The team whose player has the lowest score on that hole wins the hole. Should players from each team tie for the best score, the hole is halved. Captains name the team pairings. Team USA will name first match-up. Team Europe will determine next two match-ups.

SATURDAY MORNING

Fourball

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Foursomes

“Foursomes” play is a match where two golfers play together against two other golfers and each team plays one ball. The golfers play alternate shots (golfer A hits tee shot, player B hits second shot, etc.) until the hole is played out. Team members alternate playing the tee shots, with one golfer hitting odd-numbered holes, and the other hitting the even-numbered holes. Captains name the team pairings. Team Europe will name first match-up. Team USA will determine next two match-ups.

SUNDAY MORNING

Singles

“Singles” is a match in which one player competes against another player. A player wins the match when he is up by more holes than there are holes remaining to play. Captains will determine match-ups by alternating picks. First pick will be decided by a coin toss.
